The Gift That Gives Back
Charitable Gift Annuities
You can increase your income, reduce your tax bill and ensure that the OPB programming and services you value will be there for generations to come with the OPB charitable gift annuity.
It’s a simple way to make great things happen.
If you are 65 years or older and make a gift of $10,000 more, you’ll receive a fixed lifetime income and a charitable tax deduction in the year you make the gift. Your annual payment is also partially tax-free. You can fund the gift annuity with cash or appreciated securities. More importantly, your gift ultimately benefits OPB providing your family, friends, and people around the region with access to the information and stories that enrich our lives.

How It Works
Say that Dennis, 66, and Mary, 65, want to make a contribution to OPB that will support our work for generations to come, but they also want to ensure that they have dependable income during their retirement years. They establish a $20,000 charitable gift annuity with OPB. Based on their ages, they will receive a payment rate of 4.3 percent, which means that they will receive $860 each year for the remainder of their lives. They're also eligible for a federal income tax charitable deduction of $6,745* when they itemize. Finally, they know that after their lifetimes, the remaining amount will be used to support our mission.
*Based on annual payments and a 3.2 percent charitable midterm federal rate. Deductions and calculations will vary depending on your personal circumstances.

Delay Your Payments
If you are younger than 60 or don't need your payments immediately, you can set up a deferred gift annuity. This allows you to delay receiving payments until a later date—such as when you reach retirement. To learn more, view and download the FREE guide Plan for Retirement With a Deferred Gift Annuity.
